Uncategorized Mar 08, 2021

Women in Football are proud to announce the launch of the Women in Football Mentoring Programme, working in collaboration with Goal 17.

Goal 17 will be designing and implementing this exciting programme, which will be open for Women in Football members only.

This partnership will see both organisations demonstrate their commitment to increasing diversity in the industry and ensure that female talent is nurtured and elevated.

The partnership was kicked off with an exciting live event hosted by renowned football broadcasters Faye Carruthers and Kait Borsay and Brighton FC Cheif Executive Paul Barber. A replay of that event can be seen here: https://www.womeninfootball.co.uk/news/2021/03/03/webinar-special-the-power-of-mentoring/

Mentoring can help increase representation at senior levels, with well-trained mentors providing an effective strategy to help women progress their career and prepare them for these roles.

Women In Football has already delivered its exceptional Leadership Course, supported by lead partner Barclays, to over 300 women and the Goal 17 mentoring is set to provide all participants with additional support to put this training into further action.

Ebru Köksal, Chair of Women in Football says: "Women in Football is excited to be working with Goal 17 to offer this innovative scheme to our members. Fran Boorman and the team at Goal 17 truly share our vision and understanding of the value of mentoring, which can be an effective way to increase diversity and inclusion within an organisation or industry.

"It is fantastic to join forces with Goal 17 for our Mentoring Programme, supporting women as they recognise their goals from entering into a mentoring/mentee partnership, helping them identify and then securing agreement from the mentor of their choice.

"Prospective mentors and mentees will be supported all the way by WIF and Goal 17 with our initiative which will ultimately enrich both the mentor and mentee, along with the football industry."

Fran Boorman, founder of Goal 17, added: “It is an honour to be working alongside Women in Football on this exciting project and to have the opportunity to give back and raise up other women who are determined to succeed in the business of football.

"The diversity of thought and action that women can bring is hugely valuable and I am impressed and inspired by Women in Football’s brilliant training initiatives to support this,"
